The Journey of Journeys: On Finding Your True Path

The Journey of Journeys: On Finding Your True Path
Travel is, without exaggeration, one of the most exciting pursuits in a person's life. Mark Twain once remarked, "The only two things we will regret on our deathbed are that we loved too little and traveled too little." We choose different formats: a picnic in a nearby park, a trip to the forest outside the city, far-off countries, or extreme mountain routes. But right now, I want to write not about geography.

The very title "The Journey of Journeys" I borrowed from an advertisement for tours to Israel. The slogan stuck in my memory, although I don't plan to urge you to go there specifically. In my opinion, the real "journey of journeys" isn't about buying a ticket; it's about searching for your own path. The one true path your heart calls you toward.

Priorities: Your Own or Someone Else's?

As we grow up, we accumulate a set of goals that we are used to considering our own. But if you look closely, most of them are imposed by society, upbringing, or basic instincts. It seems to us that the ultimate dream is a big house, a bank account, and status. Undoubtedly, this is important, but it's more about the needs of the body: comfort, security, reproduction. Juvenal in his time called this the pursuit of "bread and circuses," and in a modern, ironic twist, it sounds like "chow and chuckles."

I'm not saying that material things are bad. It's a natural foundation. But the body should strive for sufficiency, while the soul should strive for something greater. When the mind and soul are aimed at a single goal, you find true harmony. And the most interesting part is that by following the path of the heart, a person inevitably receives material benefits over time as well.

The Path as a Vocation

Look at those who achieved success from nothing: Gates, Jobs, Zuckerberg. These are just the most prominent examples; in reality, there are millions of such people. Luck has nothing to do with it. They went through periods of failure, no one believed in their ideas, but they didn't give up.

Your path can be anything. It's not at all necessary to become a global star. Happiness lies in finding your own thing: whether it's working in the garden, building houses, writing code, raising children, or even e-sports.

The main thing is not to live the life of a "conformist," obeying only instincts. To hear your heart and find the route where you have no competitors, because this path is only yours. This knowledge is hidden deep within the soul, right next to childhood dreams. It is a great blessing to realize it and set off towards where the call leads.

I believe that this is the ultimate Journey of Journeys.
