So, my very first hike through this gorge as a blogger was in December 2014, and here is that photo review: Hike to the 21st kilometer of the Varzob Gorge. On that hike, my companions and I only made it to the poplar grove. Not far from there, we had lunch in a clearing and returned to the city. The second time, the same group went in April 2015. We drove by car to the poplar grove and then continued on to the Fanfarok waterfall. Here is that photo review: Hike to the waterfall at the 21st kilometer of the Varzob Gorge.
The next hike wasn't into this gorge, but through it. We climbed Varzob Peak, which is one of the five peaks that crown Mount Kalima. The locals call the mountain that; apparently, this mountain has no official name other than Varzob Peak. So, one of the convenient routes to Varzob Peak goes right through the 21 km gorge, past the Fanfarok waterfall. Here's the photo review of that hike: Varzob Peak, a hike from the 21 km Gorge to Odzhuk.
This recent hike was exclusively for gathering herbs, and we only took personal photos. And, accordingly, this is just a post with my photos, the ones I found interesting...
So, in this photo, I liked the tree – almost all of its roots are exposed.
Among the herbs being collected, of course, there was chamomile. I gathered a little and made this composition :)
Continuing the floral theme: Foxtail lily (or just foxtail) and me, and yes, Buryonka (the cow) is with us too... :)
What summer hike would be complete without a swim in a mountain river? So, here's the swimming.
I remember there was a movie about Hottabych, where a shadow ran around by itself. This looks similar:
"You, the kettle! Don't forget the kettle!" :)
